Member Orientation
Our member orientation program will have you up to speed in no time.
Once you’ve completed your forms with the help of our membership vice president and become a member you will be able to book an orientation session with one of our club officers and be given a full explanation of the umbrella organisation, Toastmasters International and how our local branch runs. The Toastmasters International website will be explained to you and you’ll understand the training system that is used, Pathways to guide you through your public speaking and leadership development journey here at Spinnaker Speakers.

At the heart of Toastmasters and Spinnaker Speakers are the regular meetings where we all put our money where our mouth is, and start to talk. There are lots of roles to take in a meeting as well as speeches to be given.
You’ve taken a huge step towards creating a better future for yourself and those around you and who you interact with.
The orientation with a club officer involves completing a questionnaire and a discussion around your needs, self-development, public speaking, leadership, personal goals and development of the club itself. It takes around an hour, you can ask any questions you may have and you are able to pick a convenient timeslot via a booking page on this website.
On becoming a member, you are making a commitment to both yourself and the club. That commitment involves taking on responsibility towards yourself and your growth and towards supporting your club in it’s growth and helping other members with theirs.
Check our Member Resources page to see what help and guidance is available to support you through your education and leadership journey.
