Where are your meetings?

Our meetings are held at the Keppel’s Head Hotel at 24-26 The Hard, Old Portsmouth, PO1 3DT, opposite The Hard interchange.

How much is membership?

Membership is £11 per month.

Do I have to talk on my first visit?

No, you do not need to talk on your first visit although you will be given the oppportunity.

How many members are there?

Spinnaker Speakers currently has 14 permanent members with frequent guest attendance.

What will I learn?

The club will support you to develop your skills in public speaking, self-development and leadership.

Are there any other costs?

There is an initial joining fee paid to Toastmaster International of £25.

Can I attend other Toastmaster groups?

You can attend other groups as a guest and the number of times they allow that will depend on their own policies.

How long does it take to join?

You can fill out the application form here and email it straight to us at enquires@spinnakerspeakers.org.uk, we will let you know where to make your payment and your membership will take about a week to set up.

What sort of support do I get?

Toastmasters International and Spinnaker Speakers are voluntary organisations and as such you will be ultimately responsible for your development. However, Toastmasters International has been running for over 100 years with millions of members past and present worldwide. The system is proven.

How difficult is the training?

Toastmasters training is moderately challenging but you can progress at your own pace. There are opportunities for all skill levels that you can take to build your confidence and competence.

Do I need to bring anything?

Bring a growth mindset and a can do attitude.

Do I need previous experience?

No previous experience is necessary. The club caters for complete novices up to advanced members.

How long is typical meeting?

Each meeting lasts approximately 2 hours.

How many meetings can I attend as a guest for free?

You can attend up to 3 meetings as a guest but will need to decide by then whether to join as a member.
